If you’re fascinated by behavior and mental processes, psychology is the major for you.
In psychology classes, you will explore the scientific approach to understanding the mind and behavior. You can customize a psychology major to prepare yourself for a career or graduate studies in a variety of areas, such as clinical or counseling professions, developmental studies, neuroscience, human resources and a host of other fields.
In addition, you’ll have numerous opportunities to conduct research and study – inside the lab and out.
The current trend in science is to understand nature from multiple perspectives. A neuroscience minor can build on your psychology background.
Engage with faculty on research projects, as well as several research experiences built into the curriculum. Faculty-student research outside the classroom is a key factor in admission to graduate school. At Concordia, we’ll prepare you well. You may even have the chance to present your research.
Gain Work Experience
Intern at one of the numerous healthcare facilities and agencies in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Use your knowledge at a juvenile detention center, the Fargo Youth Commission or Prairie St. John’s.
Become a member of Psi Chi, the national psychology honor society, or our campus Psychology Club. We also offer our own honors program, which gives you the chance to plan and complete your own research project.
With a degree in psychology, you’ll be prepared for a career in a variety of fields or graduate school.
A psychology major provides an excellent background for careers in business, law, medicine, seminary, and education. Like a recent graduate who works for Lutheran World Relief as the fair trade projects coordinator, you can find a way to pair your psychology major with your interests and talents.
Students who study psychology also have pursued employment as school social workers, vocational training specialists and clinical mental health counselors.
